Vacuum preloading combined with prefabricated vertical drain is a cost-effective method for strengthening weak foundations. However, clogging of drainage systems can hinder soil consolidation. This review explores clogging mechanisms like filter clogging and particle migration, along with methods to prevent clogging. The study also compares drainage efficiency and energy costs of different anti-clogging techniques. New directions are suggested to improve drainage and make clogging prevention clearer.
