New pea genotypes promise higher yields and better adaptation worldwide!
Pea genotypes were tested at two locations to find the best ones for high yield and wide adaptation. The study showed that certain genotypes produced more fresh pods than others, with HRSDGP-11-18-1 and HRSDGP-11-18-11 being the top performers. These genotypes had a higher yield advantage over the Sikkim Local variety. Traits like pod length, pod diameter, and seed number per pod were found to be important for improving yield in garden peas. Overall, HRSDGP-11-18-1 and HRSDGP-11-18-11 were identified as superior genotypes that can be recommended for further evaluation on farms.
