A constructed wetland with Phragmites australis and Typha latifolia was used to improve the water quality of the Fakhb Treatment Plant in Rasht. The goal was to reduce the levels of biological and chemical oxygen demand in the water. The wetland effectively decreased these oxygen demands, showing that this natural method can help clean wastewater.
