New wastewater treatment system achieves high removal of pollutants from rice paper production.
The researchers tested a system to clean up wastewater from making rice paper. They used a mix of bacteria in a tank that doesn't need oxygen (UASB) and another tank with air (aerotank). The UASB removed around 70-90% of the dirt and waste in the water over a few weeks. The aerotank did even better, removing around 90-95% of the dirt and waste in just a week. This shows that the system can clean up the water from making rice paper very well.
