North Atlantic High Variability Linked to Increase in Tropical Cyclones.
The North Atlantic Subtropical High's variability during the wet season affects tropical cyclone activity. Data from 1950 to 2019 was analyzed, showing the high weakens at the surface but strengthens at higher levels. The position and extent of the anticyclonic ridge at 850 hPa are crucial for tropical cyclone formation. In recent years, parameters in June and July have become more important for predicting tropical cyclones in the Atlantic basin.
