The article explores how young people from Portuguese-speaking countries in Portugal use their language. By interviewing 33 individuals from Brazil and African countries, the researchers found that speaking Portuguese helps these young people fit in, but it can also make them feel excluded. African individuals struggle when their native languages clash with Portuguese, while Brazilians face challenges due to the use of standard Brazilian Portuguese.
