Satellite study reveals significant improvement in Al-Ahsa Oasis ecological environment
The Al-Ahsa Oasis in Saudi Arabia has seen changes in vegetation cover due to urban expansion and degradation. Using satellite images, researchers found that from 1987 to 2021, there was a significant increase in vegetation cover, especially in the northern and southern regions. The ecological environment of the oasis improved, with higher NDVI values indicating healthier vegetation. The study suggests that efforts should be made to combat sand encroachment and enhance the oasis's ecological environment.
