Toxic air pollution levels in South Sumatra threaten public health, new data reveals.
The study looked at air quality in South Sumatra Province from 2016 to 2020, focusing on sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels. They used passive samplers to monitor these pollutants in different locations like industrial areas, residential areas, and offices. The results showed that the concentrations of SO2 and NO2 were generally below air quality standards. The air quality index for the province was classified as good, with the EU Model Air Index ranging from 0.33 to 0.48. Overall, the study found that air quality in South Sumatra Province met the standards set by environmental regulations.
