The research aimed to assess the water quality of Gentung River in Pangkajene Regency and the Islands based on physical and chemical conditions. Nine parameters were analyzed, including temperature, color, TDS, pH, DO, BOD, COD, and total organic matter. Results showed that the water quality did not meet standards for TDS, BOD, COD, and total organic matter, but met standards for temperature, color, pH, and DO. Therefore, the Gentung River water cannot be used as a clean water source according to class two quality standards.
