Optimized nutrient management boosts coastal rice farming profits by 31%
The researchers studied how to improve rice farming in coastal Bangladesh by optimizing nutrient management. They tested different fertilizer doses on two new cropping patterns and found that using the right amount of fertilizer can increase crop productivity and profits for farmers. One cropping pattern, T. aus rice-T. aman rice-sweet gourd, was more profitable than T. aus rice-T. aman rice-sunflower. By using the optimal fertilizer dose, they increased crop productivity by 21-31% compared to other doses. This shows that using the right amount of fertilizer on specific cropping patterns can greatly benefit coastal farmers.
