Climate change has led to more extreme weather events like floods. To keep the Three Gorges Project safe, researchers used hydrodynamic methods to study flood season water levels. They found that different starting water levels and discharge flows affect flood control. The current scheduling plan has extra safety measures, and raising water levels to 155m during floods can reduce risks from 100-year floods.
