Limited Influence of Environmental Impact Assessment on Hazardous Waste Management Decisions in Mexico
The article explores how Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) influences decision-making for hazardous waste management in Mexico. The researchers used case studies and interviews to identify different models of EIA and decision-making processes. They found that traditional rational decision-making models were limited in explaining how decisions were made. Instead, decision-making for hazardous waste facilities in Mexico followed models like bounded rationality and incrementalism. Recommendations were made to improve the EIA system in Mexico and increase its impact on decision-making.
