The article discusses the need for international cooperation in assessing forest biodiversity. Efforts have been made to develop indicators of biodiversity, but there is a lack of cooperation at the stand level. This has led to different systems being used with varying criteria and accuracy. The main goal is to agree on definitions, identify indicators, develop field assessment methods, research indigenous knowledge, explore cultural aspects, and build capacity in developing countries.
