Higher nitrogen levels boost aromatic rice growth, impacting pre-anthesis dry matter.
The study looked at how nitrogen affects the movement of stored nutrients in aromatic rice plants before flowering. They found that using more nitrogen fertilizer led to less stored nutrients in the leaves, stems, and sheaths before flowering. After flowering, plants without support structures had even less stored nutrients. However, plants with support structures had more stored nutrients after flowering. Overall, using more nitrogen fertilizer increased the amount of stored nutrients in the leaves, stems, and sheaths at flowering time.
