Access to Credit Boosts Agricultural Productivity in Iran, Study Finds
Agriculture in Iran needs to produce more food due to a growing population. Small farmers struggle to afford new technology like machinery and irrigation. To help them, credit is given, but it's unclear if it actually helps improve productivity. A study looked at how credit impacts farmers' production methods. The results showed that farmers who borrowed money didn't significantly change how they farmed compared to those who didn't borrow. This means that credit availability may not lead to using new technology to increase productivity.
