Economic models are being used to efficiently allocate resources in the Cloud. A new type of double auction has been developed specifically for trading time-leased computational resources as Cloud services. This new auction system aims to improve the efficiency of service management and allocation in the Cloud. The researchers have presented data structures, algorithms, and architecture for this economic mechanism, and have evaluated it through simulation. Results show that this new double auction outperforms existing implementations in the literature.
