Chinese consumers demand safer pork with traceable quality certification
Chinese consumers were surveyed about their preferences and willingness to pay for traceable pork attributes. The study found that quality certification was the most important characteristic, followed by appearance and traceability information. Consumers preferred government certification, fresh-looking appearance, and traceability information covering farming, slaughter, processing, and marketing. Factors like age, income, and education level influenced preferences and willingness to pay for traceability information and quality certification. The findings can help the Chinese government improve traceable food consumption policies.
