New Safety Directive Ensures Maximum Protection for Personal Protective Equipment Users
The PPE Directive aims to standardize the design and manufacture of personal protective equipment for safety in Europe. It covers helmets and other protective gear for both work and personal use. The main goals are to ensure free movement of PPE within the European Community and to maximize protection for users. The Directive sets out essential safety requirements, certification procedures, and the economic and social impact of PPE. It was adopted in 1989 and came into force in 1992.
