Linguistic politeness is about showing consideration for others when we talk. Different ways of studying politeness have been explored, like Politeness Theory and Politeness Principle. Newer approaches to politeness have also been looked at. Researchers have studied how politeness changes based on social and cultural factors. They have also briefly looked at impoliteness. Future research might focus on new areas related to politeness.
