New lysimeter technology reveals errors in measuring evapotranspiration accurately.
A new device called a dynamic weighing lysimeter was created to measure evapotranspiration from plants like lichens and heather. This device automatically records data every 1-2 minutes. The researchers compared the evapotranspiration measurements from the lysimeter with calculations from another method called the Bowen ratio energy balance method. They found some errors in both methods when estimating evapotranspiration.
