Revolutionizing student access to virtual environments with hybrid cloud solution
The Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) at the Computer Communications Lab allows students to access virtual environments for their assignments. To address the issue of underutilization and overutilization of resources, a hybrid cloud solution was developed. This solution combines the existing private cloud with public cloud resources during peak usage times, improving resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. By integrating Amazon EC2 public cloud resources with the VCL environment, the hybrid cloud solution provides optimal resource utilization and expands capabilities during high-demand periods. This approach allows for better cost efficiency compared to investing in new physical infrastructure. The result is a working proof-of-concept hybrid cloud solution for the VCL environment.
