New tractor design reduces bumpy rides and improves crop yields.
A new suspended front axle for heavy agricultural tractors has been developed by ZF Passau, improving dynamic wheel loads and ride quality. The design includes a hydro-pneumatic suspension system that reduces wheel load variations on uneven roads, resulting in a smoother ride. Tests show that this axle performs better than traditional axles, adjusting automatically to different loads. A simulation program suggests that this design could be used for all types of tractors.
