The article discusses how to predict swelling pressure in expansive soil by reducing frictional stresses during testing. Different techniques were used to decrease friction between the soil and the testing apparatus. By analyzing 28 soil specimens, a formula was developed to predict swelling pressure based on initial dry density, water content, and clay content. This formula can help engineers predict swelling pressures for this type of soil.
