Farmers Facing Bleak Future as Climate Policies Threaten Agricultural Livelihoods
The paper looks at how reducing greenhouse gases affects agricultural trade in New Zealand and the European Union. New Zealand relies heavily on agriculture and has a lot of greenhouse gas emissions from this sector. The EU has less emissions from agriculture but is a big market for New Zealand. The study shows that while reducing emissions helps the environment, it also lowers profits for farmers. Even though there is some compensation for the emission reductions, it's not enough to make up for the loss in profits.
