CERN's Efficient Work-Package Database Revolutionizes Safety and Coordination in Underground Facilities
In an effort to streamline work package management at CERN, a new database system called ACT has been designed to plan and coordinate tasks effectively, ensuring projects run smoothly in the underground facilities. The database schema was custom-built to cater specifically to CERN's needs, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the planning and coordination process, while also incorporating flexibility for future expansions. This schema will eventually merge with another database at CERN, requiring adjustments to facilitate a smooth integration. The reliability and performance of the database system rely heavily on hardware and software components, with an emphasis on redundancy and utilization of Oracle features to enhance performance. Despite some room for improvement in reducing redundancy, the database system at CERN prioritizes stability and efficiency for optimal operation.
