Grazing lambs every 35 days boosts forage quality and weight gain.
The researchers studied how often lambs should graze on an alfalfa-orchard pasture to get the most food and grow the best. They tested grazing every 21, 28, or 35 days, with 7 days of grazing each time. They found that after 90 days, lambs grazing every 21 days had the least amount of food left over, but it was lower quality. This led to lower weight gain compared to lambs grazing every 28 or 35 days. Grazing every 35 days had the most food available, while grazing every 21 days left the most food behind.
