Rural Drinking Water in Kalamary Fails Health Standards, Posing Health Risks
The study looked at rural drinking water in Kalamary from 2006 to 2008 to see how safe it was for people to drink. Researchers randomly tested water from 10-12 spots in two towns each year. They found that only about half of the water samples met safety standards, with more passing in the dry season than in the high water season. The town of Wuerhe had a higher pass rate than Xiaoguai. The main reasons for water not being safe to drink were harmful microorganisms and too much fluoride.
