Road projects evaluation reveals need for improved human impact assessment skills.
The Finnish Road Administration has been evaluating human impacts in road projects using the Environmental Impact Assessment procedure. They found that human impact assessment is becoming more common but still needs improvement. The report aims to help develop road project impact evaluation by examining the status of human impact assessment in previous reports. They identified three stages in the evaluation reports: 1. initial exploration and testing of practical models, 2. more routine assessments with less focus on human impacts, and 3. recent assessments emphasizing interaction efforts.
