A new computer simulation model called TRAFLO was used by the New York State Department of Transportation to plan and design a new interstate route. The model was chosen because it could meet the requirements for simulating large-scale traffic systems. The goal was to simulate traffic flow on the new interstate Route 88 between Schenectady and Binghamton.
