Social contract theory debunked: citizens not morally obligated to government
Social contract theory is flawed because it relies on the idea of citizens being morally obligated to follow government rules as if they signed a legal contract. However, in reality, people don't believe their obligations come from agreeing to the social order. Instead, we often just go along with the rules because it's easier than trying to change them. The stability of a constitution creates conventions that naturally enforce themselves, making it unnecessary for a third party to enforce them.
