EU agricultural reform leads to crop decline, price increase, and income boost
The study looked at how changing the EU Common Agricultural Policy to be more environmentally friendly affects agriculture in certain countries. By using a model called CAPRI, the researchers found that making the policy greener led to less land used for crops, higher crop prices, and more intense farming on the remaining land. This change would increase farm income, but in countries with less intense farming, like the Baltic countries, the increase would be small.
