Lime stabilization transforms clayey soil, enhancing road durability and safety.
Soil can be strengthened and improved by adding lime, which triggers chemical reactions that change the soil's structure. Two key quality control criteria are fineness and the amount of useful lime present. Adding small amounts of lime (1.5 to 8%) can make clayey soil easier to work with, stronger, and less likely to change in volume. Different curing methods can affect the results, and lime is not effective for soil with organic matter.
