The researchers studied plant species diversity in a mountain forest in northern Iran. They looked at 60 sample plots and found that species diversity is higher in the northern direction. They also found that species diversity is highest on slopes less than 30%. Altitude from sea level did not affect species diversity. The researchers suggest using Simpson's reciprocal index for this type of study.
