New scrubber technology slashes costs and energy use for cleaner air.
A new type of absorber called the Double-Contact-Flow Scrubber (DCFS) was developed for removing sulfur from flue gas. The DCFS is easy to maintain, has a simple design, low initial cost, and uses less power. It works by spraying absorbent slurry upwards to create good contact between gas and liquid. The absorber only has header pipes and nozzles inside, making it cheaper to build and easier to clean. The DCFS showed good performance in removing sulfur from flue gas.
