Hybrid vehicles are being made to cut emissions and save fuel. Buses are already using this technology in North America. Trucks, vans, and a minibus are being built with both an electric motor and a diesel engine. These can work together or separately. The hybrid engine makes the vehicles heavier. Some vans can run on just electricity in cities, with no emissions. But they need to charge overnight and carry less stuff. A special drinks-delivery van has been redesigned to be more efficient. It costs more but uses less fuel and is quieter.
