New Study Reveals Surprising Link Between Binary Variables and Partial Correlations
The study shows that when dealing with binary variables, certain relationships called MTP2 imply nonnegative partial correlations. By looking at groups of three variables, MTP2 is linked to how they are connected. When noise variables follow specific rules, simple models can lead to MTP2 in the observed data. Even after simplifying the data, this connection remains. Therefore, these relationships cannot tell apart different types of models with hidden variables.
