New Grass Discoveries Along German Motorways Transform Landscapes and Ecosystems
Researchers in West Germany studied different types of grass alongside motorways to see how they grow over time. They looked at 28 types of grass on three motorway sections. They found that some grass species, like Festuca rubra, do well on stony ground, while others, like Festuca ovina, can grow on dry sandy soil. Some species, such as Paturius and Agrostis stolonifera, were not very common. The study also mentioned that a French translation of the research is available.
