Trade policy reform in sub-Saharan Africa has been inconsistent, with many countries facing challenges in implementing and sustaining beneficial changes. Despite efforts to improve the trade environment, high protection levels, currency issues, slow procedures, and lack of necessary infrastructure and institutions hinder progress. These barriers prevent the full economic benefits of trade liberalization from being realized in the region.
