New wheat cultivars promise higher yields and better quality for farmers.
The study analyzed the grain yield and quality of nine different winter wheat cultivars grown at the Agricultural Institute Osijek in Croatia. The researchers found that some cultivars, like Ana, Demetra, and Super Žitarka, had higher grain yields compared to others. They also observed that cultivars like Golubica, Kata, and Barbara had high wet gluten content, making them suitable for processing into bread. Overall, the cultivars showed good quality traits for wheat processors, with high hectolitre weights and falling numbers. These findings suggest that the OS-cultivars are well-suited for producing high-quality wheat products.
