Historic bridges preserved and modernized with innovative three-sided structures.
Context sensitive design (CSD) is a way to build bridges that keeps the environment and history in mind. Two bridge projects used precast three-sided structures to replace old bridges. One bridge in Coton was built faster and with less disruption to nature. The other bridge in Chicago was widened and moved to make it safer for people walking and biking. Both projects met the goals of CSD successfully.
