Highly Loaded Activated Sludge Plant Removes 70% of BOD Load
The Rya wastewater treatment plant in Sweden serves a large population and has been running for ten years. It uses a special method called activated sludge to clean the water, removing 70% of the dirty stuff. The plant works well even though the sludge doesn't always settle properly. The sludge is good at cleaning, but only gets rid of a small amount of the pollution. The plant runs efficiently with low staff and is cost-effective.
