The article looks at 34 road projects in Sweden to see how environmental concerns have been considered over time. They identified different factors that were important for environmental aspects in these projects. They also looked at how land use planning was connected to these road projects. About half of the cases had measures to adapt to or reduce environmental impacts. Some projects were even stopped because of environmental reasons. The information was gathered from experts, environmental and planning authorities, and documents. The goal was to see how environmental impact assessments can be improved in the planning process while keeping costs reasonable.
