Future cities to prioritize public transport, reducing car dominance by 2010.
This paper looks at how transport policies and urban layouts have changed since 1960. It discusses the impact of cars, road management, energy use, and helping those who struggle with transportation. From 1985 onwards, there has been a focus on environmental quality, sustainable economics, and using existing roads better. Future urban plans include compact cities and clusters of cities. Even though cars will still be popular in 2010, public transport could become more common thanks to ideas like compact cities.
