The Alexander Hamilton Bridge in New York City underwent a major rehabilitation project to strengthen, widen, and replace its deck after over 40 years of heavy use. The project also included improving parklands, constructing a skateboard park, and replacing ramp structures. Despite challenges like maintaining traffic flow during construction, the project was completed on time and within budget in 2014. The construction cost was $413 million, making it the largest single-contract construction project in the history of the New York State Department of Transportation. Temporary structures costing over$150 million were used to ensure mobility during construction.
