Dynamic shoreline changes threaten stability of Nanakita River mouth area.
The researchers studied how the shoreline around the Nanakita River mouth changes over time using aerial photographs. They found that the shoreline moves back and forth, with the left side changing more due to a port breakwater. From 1990 to 1999, it retreated, then advanced from 2000 to 2005, and retreated again from 2006 to 2009. Overall, the shoreline is considered "dynamic stable," with changes of up to 70 meters.
