Leaders' Character Key in Achieving Organizational Success, Study Finds
The study looked at how leadership style and character traits affect organizational outcomes. They surveyed over 279,000 military and civilian Air Force personnel. Results showed that both leadership style and character traits were linked to organizational outcomes. Character traits also played a role in predicting outcomes, even after considering leadership style. High levels of both leadership and character had the biggest impact on outcomes. A small number of participants showed a dark side of leadership by having high leadership scores but low character scores. This study supports the idea of measuring both leadership and character traits to understand their impact on organizational success.
