Notified Bodies Revolutionize European Railway Liberalization and Safety Standards.
The European Union has been working on making the railway system more open and standardized since the 1990s. They have set rules to separate railway managers from the companies that run trains. To make sure everything meets the standards, Notified Bodies (NoBo's) check and certify products and systems. These NoBo's work independently from the railway companies and technology suppliers. In 2000, they formed a group called NB Rail to coordinate their work. This paper talks about how the railway system is changing in European countries, the new European standards, and the important role of Notified Bodies in making sure everything is safe and up to standard.
