Stormwater devices in Milwaukee show promise in reducing urban pollution levels.
Two stormwater treatment devices were tested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see how well they clean up pollutants from runoff water. One device uses settling and flotation to remove pollutants, while the other uses filtration and settling. Both devices reduced the amount of pollutants leaving them, but some dissolved pollutants actually increased in concentration. The settling device generally performed better than the filtration device in terms of efficiency.
