The NUDECK system is a new way to build bridge decks that are stronger and last longer. By using precast concrete panels that are prestressed, the deck stays compressed and doesn't crack as easily. This system was used to build the Skyline Bridge in Omaha, Nebraska, making construction faster and causing less disruption to the public. The panels are connected to steel beams with strong studs and filled with special concrete to prevent shrinking. This method can also be used for other types of bridges, not just the Skyline Bridge.
