Researchers studied the long-term impact of using fertilizers on rice and wheat crops. They found that by applying specific amounts of NPK fertilizers, the productivity of the rice-wheat system remained stable over many years at different locations. However, soil fertility did not improve in most cases due to continuous cropping, except for increased phosphorus levels at some sites.
